The City of Zeeland provides its residents with public transportation through the Macatawa Area Express (MAX) bus system. Beginning April 6, 2009 the city changed from a demand response system to a deviated fix route system. The change provided users of the system with more reliability as the bus now travels a route through Zeeland every hour on weekdays from 6 a.m. - 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. - 7 p.m. The bus deviates from the fixed route up to three times per hour to assist seniors over 70 years of age and ADA eligible riders.
The cost to ride the MAX bus for a resident (18-64 years of age) is $1 on the fixed route system and $5 one way on the reserved ride system. The fixed route system is free to those 65 and older, under 5, and ADA & Medicare cardholders.
