Monday, April 20, 2020 - MSU Science Festival 
Today we invite you to check out MSU Science Festival! They have adapted their festival to be virtual. Find dozens of STEAM resources/activities and listen to presentations by professionals in the STEAM fields. They also have a late night series for adults interested in these topics as well!

Watch videos, play games, get inspired for creations, and more! The site is huge so be sure to explore ??

Wednesday, April 22, 2020 - Wonderopolis
Check Wonderopolis (Facebook page and website) daily for a new question about a wide variety of topics! Each question is designed to get kids and families to read, think, talk, and find learning moments together in everyday life. Yesterday was learning about mangroves and the day before that was about Sojourner Truth. You can even submit your own question! Maybe they will write about it someday ??

Our Daily Inspirations is a podcast from NPR! The following is a description from the Podcast Directory:

Monday, April 27, 2020 - Magic Tree House Home Adventures

Today starts a new virtual activity from one of our favorite authors so our Daily Inspiration is Magic Tree House Home Adventures!

Each week Mary Pope Osborne will publish videos, crafts, games, reading challenges, recipes, trivia, and other activities tied to the series and its characters. Readers will also have access to videos of Osborne reading and answering questions from fans.

The program includes various elements to facilitate distance learning, such as writing prompts, cross-curricular activities, resource guides, plays and sing-alongs from Music Theatre International, clips from Listening Library, materials from Osborne’s Classroom Adventures program, and more!

BedtimeMath shows that improving math skills doesn’t have to involve dull drills. Every day they offer an off-beat but true factoid e.g. Can Dogs Fly? followed by math problems for “wee ones” through “big kids” (and sometimes even “the sky’s the limit!”) They also have a variety of other math-based activities, some even physical. You can subscribe and get the daily problem delivered to your inbox or by app.

Wednesday, April 29, 2020 - Netflix Documentary
Netflix has put 10 documentaries and series on their YouTube so people can watch them without a subscription. Each comes with resources such as discussion questions, additional information, and ways to take action. This is a great resource for teachers and families!

School Library Journal has created a series of podcasts meant to help parents explain COVID-19 to children. Some of the podcasts are hosted by children who interview adults, others have children submitting their questions to the experts. Some of the podcasts are available in Spanish as well! The topics explored by these podcasts include:

There are even more Bonus Borrows available now! Explore some educational or classic books that do not count toward your borrowing limit! These books do not affect the library's daily budget either and are available 24/7 even when the limit has been reached. This only applies to titles that are in Bonus Borrows collections.
Unfortunately, our digital only library cards do not have access to hoopla. Once we reopen and people sign for their official library card they will have access to hoopla as well.
